The Japanese government’s decision to discharge Fukushima contaminated water ignores human rights and international maritime law. UN experts were disappointed where under Par. 1-5, Article 207 of the UN Convention on Law of the Sea, the Japanese government is obliged to use alternative measures to prevent, reduce and control marine environmental pollution. But it wasn’t followed.
While the whole mainstream media is deafeningly silent on the issue, Japan conveniently throws its devastating nuclear pollution unto the rest of the world. Whether we survive or not years from now will depend on our course of action today.
There is no time to waste. Any faint sign of radioactivity in our marine life means it’s too late. The contamination of our waters and every living thing is irreversible and deadly. To our oceans. To mankind.
Where does our country stand? What is the Philippines saying?
We will let our voices be heard. Together, let us push for our human rights and our rights to a safe and nuclear radiation-free ocean!
